Hegel's Philosophy of Right was his last systematic work and the most complete statement of his mature views on ethical and political philosophy. It explores the relationships between three distinct conceptions of human freedom: persons as possessing contract rights, subjects as reflective moral agents, and individuals as members of an ethical community. It strongly influenced the early Marx and with the rise of debates over liberalism and communitarianism in the latter half of the twentieth century. La paix entre l’État et les FARC en 2016 a fortement limité le nombre de victimes de violences mais ces dernières risquent de repartir de plus belle. La moitié des guérilleros ont été désarmés par l’ONU, ce qui laisse le pays sans encadrement territorial pour s’opposer au narcotrafic. Les anciens FARC sont assassinés par de nouvelles structures criminelles en train d’occuper le terrain.

Notre article propose d’explorer la réception de Pierre Poiret au sein du piétisme radical en Allemagne. Dans ce milieu spirituel a émergé une traduction allemande de l’Œconomie Divine (1687) (7 vol. 1735-1742). Nous souhaitons donner quelques éclairages sur la réalisation de ce projet, les personnes qui y ont été associées, ainsi que sur la manière dont le texte de Poiret a été transposé en langue allemande. Poiret et ses traducteurs piétistes partagent la conviction que la vérité religieuse n’est accessible que (...) par l’illumination divine. Mais la tension entre l’inspiration divine de la vérité et son agencement systématique et rationnel dans le volumineux traité de Poiret se trouve encore renforcée par les stratégies érudites mises en place par les traducteurs, notamment par Johann Christoph Edelmann qui se muera de piétiste radical en représentant des Lumières radicales. En s’appuyant sur une enquête de terrain concernant un établissement de la filière automobile, cet article cherche à montrer que le temps de travail a adopté un caractère flexible et fragmenté à la suite de transformations concomitantes de l’organisation du travail et des relations professionnelles. Ce temps est articulé au flux et au volume de production, ce qui le rend moins régulier et prévisible pour les salariés. Leur temps de travail peut ainsi varier à la hausse ou à la baisse (...) selon des contraintes de marché ou des aléas industriels. À cette flexibilité s’ajoute la désynchronisation du temps des différents ateliers et équipes à l’usine. En conséquence, les salariés et leurs représentants ont de moins en moins de prise sur un temps de travail qui semble s’imposer à eux, de l’extérieur. Face à cette situation, les marges de revendication des élus du personnel se réduisent. Ils tentent de redonner une certaine régularité et synchronicité au temps de travail quand il ne s’agit pas de négocier des contreparties salariales. Les transformations de l’organisation du travail en cours remettent donc en cause – mais de façon discrète – l’une des mesures dominantes du travail en régime fordien en réformant profondément les modalités de négociation sur le temps de travail. Depuis la fin des années 1990, la « complexité » a le vent en poupe. Ce texte présente une réflexion menée à l’Institut rhône-alpin des systèmes complexes sur le rôle que peuvent avoir les instituts pour promouvoir une étude réflexive des systèmes complexes. Il s’appuie également sur une étude empirique du domaine des systèmes complexes perçu à travers le prisme d’une base d’articles de sciences dures. Nous concluons sur la nécessité de permettre la maturation de projets interdisciplinaires.Since the late 1990s, (...) the "complexity" has the wind in its sails. This paper presents a discussion conducted at the Institute Rhône-Alpes complex systems on the role that institutions may have to promote a reflexive study of complex systems. It is also based on an empirical study of the field of complex systems seen through the prism of a base articles sciences. It has been argued that the explanation of self-control requires positing special motivational powers. Some think that we need will-power as an irreducible mental faculty; others that we need to think of the active self as a dedicated and depletable pool of psychic energy or – in today more respectable terminology – mental resources; finally, there is the idea that self-control requires postulating a deep division between reason and passion – a deliberative and an emotional motivational system. This essay argues (...) that no such special motivational powers are necessary. Yet, at the same time, self-control does powerfully illustrate the importance of a feature of the mind. What it illustrates, I argue, is the importance of the mental activity of attention in the control of all action. It is by appeal to this mental activity that we can dispense with special motivational powers. If we think of Humeanism as the view that there is fundamentally only one kind of motivational system and that all action is based in that system, then this essay contributes to a defense of Humeanism. On the other hand, the essay also shows that any model of agency in terms of only beliefs and desires, motivational and representational states, or preferences and credences is incomplete. A different conception of Humeanism as the view that every mental state is either motivational, representational, or a combination of them, is false. (shrink)

Arendt Contra Sociology re-assesses the relationship between Hannah Arendt's work and the theoretical foundations of sociology, bringing her insights to bear on key themes within contemporary theoretical sociology. Departing from the view of Arendt as a political theorist who sought to rescue politics from society, and political theory from the social sciences, this book re-examines her distinctions between labour, fabrication and action as a theory of the fundamental ontology of human societies, revisiting her criticism of the tendency of many sociological (...) paradigms to conflate the activity of fabrication with that of action. What is attention? How does attention shape consciousness? In an approach that engages with foundational topics in the philosophy of mind, the theory of action, psychology, and the neurosciences this book provides a unified and comprehensive answer to both questions. Sebastian Watzl shows that attention is a central structural feature of the mind. The first half of the book provides an account of the nature of attention. Attention is prioritizing, it consists in regulating priority structures. Attention is not another (...) element of the mind, but constituted by structures that organize, integrate, and coordinate the parts of our mind. Attention thus integrates the perceptual and intellectual, the cognitive and motivational, and the epistemic and practical. The second half of the book concerns the relationship between attention and consciousness. Watzl argues that attentional structure shapes consciousness into what is central and what is peripheral. The center-periphery structure of consciousness cannot be reduced to the structure of how the world appears to the subject. What it is like for us thus goes beyond the way the world appears to us. On this basis, a new view of consciousness is offered. In each conscious experience we actively take a stance on the world we appear to encounter. It is in this sense that our conscious experience is our subjective perspective. (shrink)
